Nu maakt de Gibson Custom Shop exacte kopieën van de ES-335 zoals ze de Kalamazoo fabriek verlieten in 1958. In dat jaar werden er maar 267 gemaakt, maar de originele vintage 335's groeiden langzamerhand in populariteit, met een piek in 1967 dankzij Eric Clapton, die veel gebruik maakte van een cherry ES-335 in de band Cream.
