De Gibson John Lennon J-160E Peace gitaar - gemaakt in samenwerking met Yoko Ono - is een nauwkeurige recreatie van Lennon's geliefde instrument zoals hij in 1969 was, nadat hij de psychedelische schilderingen uit 1967 had verwijderd, en voordat hij tekeningen van zichzelf en Ono op de body van de gitaar tekende tijdens het legendarische "Bed-Inn" protest tegen de oorlog in Vietnam. The headstock inlay is a flower with a single petal colored in blue, while the fretboard design features a mother-of-pearl butterfly in at the 12th fret, accompanied by the word “SEE” in Maria’s handwriting. Pearl fret marker dots are aligned along the bass side. Other features include an abalone rosette, abalone-dotted bridge pins, and Taylor Expression System� electronics. Right from its introduction in 1958 as the world’s first semi-hollowbody electric guitar it has been a mainstay of players eager to balance the gorgeous, round, mellow tones perfect for jazz and blues with the edge and sustain of a full-blooded solidbody. Today the Gibson Custom Shop creates exacting duplicates of the ES-335 as it first left the Kalamazoo plant in 1958. That year just 267 were built, but the original vintage 335s grew steadily in popularity, peaking in 1967 thanks largely to Eric Clapton’s high-profile use of a cherry ES-335 in the band Cream.
