TATTOO DRUMSTEL SCHITTERT IN NEW YORK

Het tattoo drumstel van Henk Schiffmacher en Rock Palace schitterde het afgelopen weekend tijdens het herdenkingsconcert voor de legendarische drummer Buddy Rich in New York. De kolkende massa drumfans in de uitverkochte Hammerstein ballroom ging uit zijn dak op het moment dat Chad Smith plaatsnam achter het tattoo drumstel uit Nederland.

De stevige funkrock ritmes van Chad Smith sloegen in als een bom. Hij speelde onder andere ‘Dani California’ van de Red Hot Chili Peppers en ‘Hocus Pocus’ van de Nederlandse band Focus. Chad Smith werd begeleid door de Buddy Rich bigband. De super rockster was na het optreden razend enthousiast over het drumstel. Volgens Chad Smith was niet alleen het uiterlijk, maar ook de klank fantastisch. Hij smeekte letterlijk op zijn knieën of hij het drumstel mee naar huis mocht nemen!

Chad Smith heeft onlangs een nieuwe superband geformeerd met Sammy Hager (ex-Van Halen zanger), gitaarlegende Joe Satriani en Michael Anthony (ex-Van Halen bassist). In november 2008 gaat de band de studio in om een album op te nemen. Chad gaat zijn nieuwe drumstel gebruiken bij de opnames en tour door Amerika. De stijl van de band is een kruising tussen Led Zeppelin en de Red Hot Chili Peppers.
