The American Special Telecaster has proved a truly timeless design, and this one incorporates some modern tweaks like a 9.5” radius maple neck with jumbo frets. It should pack a punch, too, because although the urethane-finished alder body and maple neck combination are often used, the American Special Tele is loaded with Texas Special pickups. These overwound vintage-hot Alnico V pups have a distinct midsy bite which is only made better by the string-through-body design of the bridge and solid tonewood of the Telecaster.
