The first thing you will notice when you pick up the bass is its weight, or lack of it. At just over 7 pounds, it’s one of the lightest basses around. The bass balances wonderfully when using a strap, because of the body’s long, swollen upper horn. In another nod to comfort, the T14’s top and back are slightly contoured to eliminate potential sore spots on the player’s arm or ribs. The Washburn’s T14 neck setup is outstanding for an instrument in this price range. All of the frets are well dressed, and notes are buzz-free across the two-octave neck. The two-piece neck has a thin, satiny smooth finish and feels resonant to your fretting hand. The Taurus’ inviting playability, good sounds, and respectable hardware are charming. The Washbrun T14 is one hell of a bass! And with a price like this, it’s hard to not feel inspired.
