 JBL JRX118SP For those who prefer the simplicity of a self-powered subwoofer, there's the JBL JRX118SP 18" Compact Powered Subwoofer Cabinet.The JBL JRX118SP powered subwoofer incorporates a specially designed amplifier with 500 watts peak and 300 watts continuous power output into the same driver as the non-powered version. It offers a built-in stereo crossover network and peak limiter to protect the amplifier and speaker from clipping. The JRX118SP is designed with a JBL 18" woofer with a cast frame and 3" voice-coil. To minimize distortion due to coil saturation, heavy gauge wire is used for inductors and SonicGuard high-frequency driver protection guards against damage caused by inadvertent overpowering of the system.
