Gibson SG Special Reissue V… Like the landmark Les Paul before it, the introduction of Gibson's SG line in 1961 shattered all perceptions of what a guitar could be. The name "SG Special" actually first surfaced on a Gibson guitar in late 1959, when the name was applied to the double cutaway Special with rounded horns that had previously been listed as a Les Paul since 1955. In early 1961, however, the SG Special underwent the same radical redesign as the iconic Les Paul Standards did that same year.

Gibson SG Standard Reissue… Take home a truly inspiring piece of history with this SG Standard now that Gibson have breathed new life into it over 45 years after its introduction as part of their VOS series. This Gibson Custom Shop SG Standard Reissue VOS was a futuristic design when it was introduced in 1960, and it still has a modern look. Featuring an ultra-thin, two-horned body, the SG series addressed 2 of what Ted McCarty saw as the major issues of the now-retired Les Paul body style: weight and limited access to the upper treble register. The new body shape of the SG Standard was dramatically lighter than the old Les Paul and offered access to the entire fretboard. This amazing re-creation includes pickups and long neck tenon modeled precisely on the original. The VOS aging treatment makes it look exactly like a vintage original instrument that's been treated with loving care for its whole life.

Gibson SG Special Heritage… Itching to rock with no superfluous frills to get in the way? The SG Special is ready to take you there. When the SG replaced the single-cutaway Les Paul in the Gibson catalog in 1961, the change ushered in a new rock icon—even if the world didn't quite know it yet. Through the course of the coming decade the SG would become a favorite of rock, blues, and fusion players. By the time the single-cutaway Les Paul Standard returned to the fold later in the ’60s to reclaim its own hold on the guitar world, the SG had established itself as an iconic axe for straight-ahead rockers, making a major noise in the hands of Pete Townshend, Robby Krieger, Eric Clapton, and several others. As the stripped-down sibling of the SG Standard, the SG Special has always been a favorite of non-nonsense rock'n'rollers.

Gibson SG Classic Faded Wor… Gibson's stylish and toneful SG has been a classic ever since its arrival on the scene in 1961. Its status as the replacement for the Les Paul was only temporary (it was referred to the Les Paul/SG until 1963, when it became merely the SG), but its position as a rock icon was permanent. By the mid '60s, the SG Special (a variant with no-nonsense styling and gnarly P-90 pickups) was the favorite of countless rock and blues artists, and was seen in the hands of Pete Townshend, Carlos Santana, and Robby Krieger, to name but a few. To celebrate this rock classic, Gibson USA introduces the SG Classic Faded, exclusive to Musician's Friend. With a grain-textured satin nitrocellulose finish in Worn Cherry that makes the SG Classic Faded feel like an old friend right out of the bag, this guitar has all the ingredients that made the '60s SG Special legendary, at a price any hard-gigging guitarist can afford.

The Epiphone Les Paul Ultra III: Tradi…
We all know that deep down, most guitarists love the classic designs and shapes. That's why Epiphone designed the new Les Paul Ultra-III with the same look and features of a traditional Les Paul but added new technology giving you a guitar that's a real Les Paul but also so much more! Two Great Pickup Systems At the heart of the new Ultra-III are two pickup systems. Powering the first are Epiphone's new ProBucker humbucking pickups patterned after Gibson's famous BurstBuckers. With authentic 18% nickel silver base and cover, Elektrisola wire, accurate bobbins, slugs and screws and sand casted Alnico-II magnets, they replicate that classic "Patent Applied For" airy tone that defined rock and roll. The second system features Shadow Germany's patented NanoMag pickup embedded discretely at the end of the fingerboard. Featuring three samarium cobalt magnets, an air coil, and active electronics, this low-impedance pickup captures all the subtle body acoustics and string harmonics. Toge…
