Gibson Les Paul Custom 54 E… Custom: exclusive, elite, unparalleled. When guitar star Les Paul sound down with Gibson in the early 1950s to devise the revolutionary instrument that would carry his name, he envisioned two versions of the Les Paul Model: a “standard” version with gold top finish and nickel-plated hardware, and a Custom model that would be the crème de la crème. This Les Paul Custom would be dressed in formal wear, like the tux a jazz artist might pull on for a major performance, with a high-gloss Ebony black finish, multi-ply binding on body and headstock, an ebony fingerboard with pearl block markers, a larger headstock with mother-of-pearl split-diamond inlay, and gold-plated hardware throughout. As busy as Gibson was getting its debut solidbody electric guitar into production, the Goldtop was the first model out of the box in 1952, with the Custom on the back burner for further development. With the Goldtop off and running and gathering fans fast, Gibson turned its attention to designing the Les Paul Custom in 1953, planning for a release the following year, and prepared to make it something special. In addition to Paul’s desired Custom appointments, it gave this high-end electric the best of its new developments in hardware and electronics.

Gibson Randy Rhoads Les Pau… Randy Rhoads had one of the shortest but brightest runs at the top of the rock and roll game. His body of work with Ozzy Osbourne has stood the test of time and still provides inspiration for up-and-coming metal players and his legend has only gotten larger since his untimely death in a plane crash in 1982. Now, the Gibson Custom Shop has recreated Rhoads' white 1974 Les Paul Custom. It is a faithful recreation of the guitar Rhoads played with Ozzy and is still heavily identified with. This is the "Crazy Train" guitar, which is the song that started Ozzy's solo career and is still his most iconic non-Black Sabbath tune. This guitar has a 'sandwich' '70 body with maple top. The neck is mahogany and the fingerboard is ebony. The newly developed Super '74 Humbuckers deliver a great sound for all metal music. The name "Randy Rhoads" is stamped on the pickguard, and the fingerboard contains mother of pearl block inlays.

Gibson Les Paul Standard Sl… Gibson USA’s Slash Signature Les Paul Standard is a heartfelt tribute to Slash and the guitar he’s used for more than 20 years to create some of the most powerful and popular hard rock of all time. Working closely with Slash, Gibson USA recreated his favorite Les Paul Standard. The magic of this guitar is in the details. An Antique Vintage Sunburst finish is applied to a solid mahogany body with a AA maple figured top and dark black. The body features Gibson’s period-correct weight-relief structure, along with a pair of Seymore Duncan Alnico II Pro humbuckers–the same pickups Slash uses in all his Les Pauls — for sweet, vintage tone. The Slash-designed solid mahogany neck is given a thin, comfortable profile to Slash’s personal specifications, and Slash’s skull and crossbones, top hat logo, and signature adorn the headstock. A custom-made, smooth black case featuring Slash’s logo accompanies every guitar. The Gibson USA Slash Signature Les Paul is a limited-edition run of only 1,600 guitars worldwide. Gibson Les Paul 1958 Plain… The 1958 Les Paul Standard reissue produced today by Gibson Custom is true to all of the original instrument’s features and characteristics, including Gibson’s traditional hand-carved “plain” maple top and solid, non-weight relieved mahogany body. The headstock is made from Holly head veneer, as opposed to fiber, just like it was in 1958, and the vintage-style tulip tuners are mounted in a straight line, also as they were on the original. The 24 ¾-inch scale length neck is made from one solid piece of mahogany, and attached to the body using a long neck tenon — one of the Les Paul’s more distinguishing characteristics of the 1950s. The neck is topped by a 22-fret rosewood fingerboard outfitted with acrylic trapezoid inlays matching the size and color of the originals. Of course, two of Gibson’s legendary Burstbucker pickups deliver all the subtle variations of true, classic humbucker tone by using historically “unmatched” bobbin windings and Alnico II magnets. Other historical appointments include CTS potentiometers, bumble bee capacitors, rolled crème-colored fingerboard binding, single-ply thin binding around the body, and period-correct switchwasher and jackplate. The 1958 Les Paul Standard comes in either a V.O.S. or Gloss finish, and with the standard Gibson Custom case, custom care kit and certificate of authenticity.

Gibson Les Paul Junior 1957… In 1955, the competition to develop and market solid body electric guitars that were both affordable and professionally built was heating up. Just three years earlier, Gibson had introduced the incredible Les Paul model with a $249.50 price tag (including case), yet increased competition was triggering the exploration into new directions that would eventually yield a wide variety of new and innovative Gibson products at various price points. Among those new products was the Les Paul Junior single cutaway model in 1955—a stripped-down, affordable alternative to the more expensive Les Paul model. It was given a dark brown color around the guitar’s edge, with a golden sunburst shading in the middle of the body. This finish would eventually become known as Vintage Sunburst.
