Sometimes greatness gets overlooked. One example of this is the OD820 Overdrive Pro from Maxon’s Vintage Series. In the mid 90’s Maxon released the OD820 in response to the deluge of boutique overdrives being offered by DIY builders around the world. Since most of these “corksniffer” pedals were simply variations on the company’s legendary 808 overdrive circuit to begin with, Maxon felt compelled to “one-up” the one-uppers with the OD820. When you’re ready for greatness, the new Maxon Vintage Overdrive Pro is ready for you!
Manufacturers are always bragging about how “their” overdrive pedal sounds more like a tube amp than any other. Well, Maxon decided that the best way to re-create the full-bodied sound and dynamic response of a tube amp is to use a real tube, and thus was born the TOD-9 True Tube Overdrive. So if solid-state overdrives just aren’t cutting it for you, get to the truth of the matter and get the True Tube Overdrive from Maxon!
The world’s smallest tube-based booster/overdrive pedal, the TBO-9 features a US Military spec subminiature tube at its core. Subminiatures are the final frontier of vacuum tubes, as the supply of quality vintage tubes is rapidly dwindling. Used extensively during W.W. II, subminiatures were largely abandoned by 1955 in favor of transistor technology, leaving a healthy stock of quality NOS product behind. If you crave the warmth and natural dynamic response of tubes, the TBO-9 delivers a variety of true tube tones at the touch of your foot.
One of Maxon's most esoteric models, the SD-9 has gained a huge cult following since its initial release in the early 1980s. The SD-9 has long been prized for its ability to provide an immense range of distorted tones, from punchy overdrive to blistering fuzz, all with full-frequency response and minimal tonal coloration. Versatile, powerful and responsive - the SD-9 is perfect for the player looking to get more than just distortion out of their distortion pedal.
A tricked-out version of the ROD880, the ROD881 Real Overdrive/Distortion offers even more tone shaping control than its older cousin. Powered by a hand-selected 12AY7EH preamp tube, the ROD881 takes all the great overdriven tube sounds of the ROD880 and turbo charges them by adding a switchable Distortion mode for searing, super-saturated guitar tones that rival the biggest of the big rigs in the amp world. In addition, the ROD881 features a Footswitchable Boost mode that effectively adds another channel to your amplifier.
When DragonForce guitarist Herman Li wanted a guitar that could handle his otherworldly technique and musicality, both he and Ibanez knew it would take time to get everything just right. It took three years. But they did get it right. The Ibanez E-Gen is played by Li exactly as it is, live on stage, in the studio, right off the shelf without any modifications. Case included.
he RGA archtop guitar not only has hot curves but playability. For live performance, its lightweight body gives players more freedom to prowl around stage. The arched top also lets players to knock down heavy riffs and power chords without hitting the guitar body. All told, curved beauty and great performance combine gracefully and powerfully in the RGA.
The Maxon OD-9 may look just like your old favorite, but that's where the similarities end. With improved circuitry, the OD-9 stands at the forefront of the Nine Series effects evolution. Like the OD808, the OD-9 provides the natural, mild overdrive of a tube amp without sacrificing the guitar's original tone. It can also be used as a clean booster to provide increased gain from an amplifier.
