Sigma gitaren zijn terug
The legend is alive - Sigma Guitars are back
Aan het einde van de jaren '60 van de vorige eeuw werd de situatie voor Amerikaanse gitaarfabrikanten zeer moeilijk: gitaren uit Japan, welke qua uiterlijk sterk overeenkwamen met de originele modellen uit Amerika, overspoelden de markt tegen een veel lagere prijs. Deze gitaren vormden een steeds grotere bedreiging voor de Amerikaanse gitaarbouwers positie op de markt, en enkele Amerikaanse bedrijven reageerden toen op een passende manier: ze begonnen geen juridische stappen tegen de illegale kopieen uit Azië, maar besloten een tegenoffensief te lanceren. In die tijd is het merk “Sigma Guitars” geboren.
In 1970 werd de naam “Sigma” voor akoestische instrumenten officieel gelanceerd. Deze gitaren werden door speciaal opgeleid personeel gemaakt in de meest efficiente gitaarfabrieken in Japan en werden daarna naar Amerika gestuurd voor inspectie voordat ze op de markt werden gebracht. De eerste in Japan gemaakte Sigma gitaren verschilden…
