Every musician knows that late ’50s Sunburst Les Paul Standards are hard enough to come by as it is. Obtaining a pristine and exemplary ’59 ’Burst and modifying it for heightened performance and vastly expanded tonal options? Unheard of… unless, of course, you’re Jimmy Page. That’s exactly what the legendary Led Zeppelin guitarist, perhaps the world’s most iconic Les Paul player, did with his own ’59 Les Paul Standard, and now—thanks to the extreme efforts of Gibson’s Custom Shop and the intimate cooperation of Jimmy Page himself—the artist’s hallowed “Number Two” Les Paul is available to mere mortals, in the form of the Custom Shop Jimmy Page “Number Two” Les Paul. Produced in strictly limited numbers, with two levels of aging, this guitar captures the look, feel, sound, and versatility of one of the greatest artist-owned Les Pauls of all time, and it is likely to disappear from authorized Gibson dealers in record time.
The Epiphone Les Paul Standard Plain Top electric guitar has the classic look of the 'plain' maple top with the classic Les Paul sound. This understated look is preferred by many Les Paul fanatics. The Les Paul Plain-Top has a mahogany body and sides, plain maple top, 22-fret rosewood fingerboard with trapezoid inlays, body and fingerboard binding and chrome hardware. The Les Paul Plain-Top is loaded with two Alnico Classic Humbucking pickups that deliver big, fat warm tones with huge sustained and deep, soulful distortion, characteristics that have made this guitar famous.
While the Epiphone Les Paul Ultra is a beauty, it is more than just the same old Les Paul wrapped in new cosmetics. In fact, it contains two significant changes from the standard Les Paul line. The first change is evident the minute you pick up the guitar. If you are expecting the heft of a standard Les Paul, you will be surprised at its lighter (around 5.5 pounds) weight. The weight reduction was achieved by carving chambers out its Mahogany body. This not only makes the Ultra much more comfortable to play for long periods, it also has a major impact on its tone.
The Epiphone Tribute Les Paul Standard Tribute honors Epiphone's history and association with Les Paul that dates back to the days when Les—working at the Epiphone factory on 14th St. in New York—created the world's first solidbody electric guitar. Over the years, Les continued to work closely with Epiphone by reviewing new product ideas and offering suggestions. The Epiphone "Tribute" Les Paul Standard honors that relationship by combining "as good as it gets" performance and features with legendary Epiphone quality and value. Case included.
