Wat is Baked Maple?
Zoals de meeste gitaristen weten, heeft Gibson de afgelopen zomer nogal wat problemen gehad met de Amerikaanse 'Federal Agents' die de gehele voorraad Palissander in beslag genomen hebben. Het hout zou illegaal geïmporteerd zijn, en Gibson had ineens geen materiaal meer voor toetsen en andere gitaaronderdelen. Daarom zijn ze op zoek gegaan naar een alternatief, en voorlopig is dat het zogenaamde 'Baked Maple', zoals dat terug te vinden is op onder meer de nieuwe Les Paul Studio 60's Tribute en Les Paul Classic Custom. Wat is Baked Maple? Baked Maple toetsen beginnen hun leven net als de gewone Maple toetsen die je vaak ziet op Fender gitaren (of op de Gibson Firebird X), voordat ze letterlijk worden gebakken op een temperatuur van 200-300 graden Celcius (dit proces wordt torrefactie genoemd). Daarna wordt de vochtigheidsgraad teruggebracht in het maple dat onder hoge druk staat. Dit proces maakt het hout zeer hard en stabiel en zorgt voor een levendige klank. Het is geen chemisch…

De grootste collectie gitaren onder één dak vind je natuurlijk bij Rock Palace in Den Haag! De gitaarafdeling is deze week vernieuwd en daardoor hebben we nu nog meer gitaren aan de muur.
