It has a moderately flamed maple top and a chambered one-piece mahogany body that promotes more resonance while reducing the weight of the guitar. This '58 Reissue features a carved plain maple top, and single-ply cream binding on the top. The rounded-profile neck is one-piece mahogany with the original-style truss rod.  Gibson Les Paul Custom 54 E… Custom: exclusive, elite, unparalleled. When guitar star Les Paul sound down with Gibson in the early 1950s to devise the revolutionary instrument that would carry his name, he envisioned two versions of the Les Paul Model: a “standard” version with gold top finish and nickel-plated hardware, and a Custom model that would be the crème de la crème. This Les Paul Custom would be dressed in formal wear, like the tux a jazz artist might pull on for a major performance, with a high-gloss Ebony black finish, multi-ply binding on body and headstock, an ebony fingerboard with pearl block markers, a larger headstock with mother-of-pearl split-diamond inlay, and gold-plated hardware throughout. As busy as Gibson was getting its debut solidbody electric guitar into production, the Goldtop was the first model out of the box in 1952, with the Custom on the back burner for further development. With the Goldtop off and running and gathering fans fast, Gibson turned its attention to designing the Les Paul Custom in 1953, planning for a release the following year, and prepared to make it something special. In addition to Paul’s desired Custom appointments, it gave this high-end electric the best of its new developments in hardware and electronics.

 Gibson Les Paul Custom Heri… Nieuw in Gibson's Custom afdeling! De Les Paul Custom die in 1954 geïntroduceerd werd, is liefkozend 'Black Beauty' en 'Fretless Wonder' genoemd. Welke naam je ook gebruikt, hij heeft altijd het hoogste niveau van elegantie en schoonheid vertegenwoordigd in de Les Paul familie. Deze 'Moderne Klassieker' heeft pickups met de klankkarakteristieken gelijk aan de '57 Classic, maar ze hebben een lichte toename bovenin de mid-range, voor een meer hedendaags humbucker geluid. De speciale Alnico II magneet geeft deze pareltjes een zingende kwaliteit die op aanvraag presteert. De Gibson Custom Shop heeft nu Rhoad's witte Les Paul Custom uit 1974 nagemaakt. Het is een getrouwe weergave van de gitaar waar Rhoads met Ozzy op speelde, en waar hij nog steeds mee geässocieerd wordt. Dit is de 'Crazy Train' gitaar, het liedje waar Ozzy's solocarrière mee begon, en wat nog steeds zijn meest iconische non-Black Sabbath tune is. Hij heeft een 'sandwich' '70 body met maple bovenblad. De hals is van mahonie en de toets van ebbehout. De Super '74 Humbuckers zijn nieuw ontwikkeld, en leveren een heerlijke klank. The 24 ¾-inch scale length neck is also made from one solid piece of mahogany then topped by a 22-fret ebony fingerboard outfitted with figured acrylic block inlays and given Gibson’s traditional rounded profile.  Gibson Les Paul 59 Reissue… De Gibson 1959 Les Paul Standard elektrische gitaar heeft een AA gevlamd maple bovenblad - precies dat soort hout dat op de vintage Les Pauls in 1959 ging. Burstbucker 1 en 2 pickups zijn nauwkeurige recreaties van de originele gepatenteerde pickups, helemaal tot aan de slecht gebalanceerde windingen. De originele bumblebee condensators, 1959 afgerond halsprofiel met lange pen, CTS pots, originele aluminium stopbar, en vele andere details zorgen ervoor dat hij precies zo klinkt, speelt en eruitziet als het origineel. Mahonie achterkant en hals met een palissander toets maken deze Les Paul heruitgave compleet.

 Gibson Les Paul Junior 1957… In 1955, the competition to develop and market solid body electric guitars that were both affordable and professionally built was heating up. Just three years earlier, Gibson had introduced the incredible Les Paul model with a $249.50 price tag (including case), yet increased competition was triggering the exploration into new directions that would eventually yield a wide variety of new and innovative Gibson products at various price points. Among those new products was the Les Paul Junior single cutaway model in 1955—a stripped-down, affordable alternative to the more expensive Les Paul model. It was given a dark brown color around the guitar’s edge, with a golden sunburst shading in the middle of the body. This finish would eventually become known as Vintage Sunburst.

Wat is Baked Maple?
Zoals de meeste gitaristen weten, heeft Gibson de afgelopen zomer nogal wat problemen gehad met de Amerikaanse 'Federal Agents' die de gehele voorraad Palissander in beslag genomen hebben. Het hout zou illegaal geïmporteerd zijn, en Gibson had ineens geen materiaal meer voor toetsen en andere gitaaronderdelen. Daarom zijn ze op zoek gegaan naar een alternatief, en voorlopig is dat het zogenaamde 'Baked Maple', zoals dat terug te vinden is op onder meer de nieuwe Les Paul Studio 60's Tribute en Les Paul Classic Custom. Wat is Baked Maple? Baked Maple toetsen beginnen hun leven net als de gewone Maple toetsen die je vaak ziet op Fender gitaren (of op de Gibson Firebird X), voordat ze letterlijk worden gebakken op een temperatuur van 200-300 graden Celcius (dit proces wordt torrefactie genoemd). Daarna wordt de vochtigheidsgraad teruggebracht in het maple dat onder hoge druk staat. Dit proces maakt het hout zeer hard en stabiel en zorgt voor een levendige klank. Het is geen chemisch…
