DiMarzio Super Distortion
De Super Distortion pickup van DiMarzio is legendarisch. Deze pickup betekende een revolutie in geluid. Vervanging pickups bestonden simpelweg niet voor de uitvinding van de Super Distortion in het begin van de jaren '70. De DiMarzio Super Distortion (en de originele 3-conductor versie, de Dual Sound) was de eerste pickup specifiek ontworpen om een traditionele gitaarcombo in totale overdrive te knallen, en is nog steeds de standaard waarmee alle andere high-output pickups worden vergeleken.
De DiMarzio Super Distortion heeft een perfecte blend van power en toon: zowel enkele noten als akkoorden springen uit de versterker en vullen de ruimte (of de track) met een muur van geluid. De balans van tonen is klassiek — vet, boosted mids, big lows en fat highs.
